Musk Lake in Jeddah
Musk Lake, is where all the sewage water at Jeddah get dumped at. Ironically, the sewage dumpster named Musk Lake by Jeddah people. I have done some Google search to share some data in English concerning this potential disaster that might collapse anytime these days as a consequence of the recent rainfall.
The lake is located 40 km on the eastern side of Jeddah, extending from the Breiman bridge toward Mekkah. Exactly, 17 kilometers away from that Breiman bridge. The lake size is relatively huge as some of the resources mentioned and it could cause a massive impact beyond what was caused by the recent rain. Roughly, 1200 trailers dump a sewage water everyday which makes the lake extend its size dramatically. The lake contains over 10 million cubic meters of the sewage water as stated on article published by Arab News.
An article was written by Saudi Gazette today 30 Nov., 2009 the Saudi English newspaper talks about the raising water at the lake from three to seven meters, however, second article was written by Arab News at 13 October, 2008 about two years ago stating that Jeddah municipality has hired three companies to clean up the impacted area and to treat it to be a gray water (I don’t know what GW is). I don’t know based on what they have hired these companies, nor what are the details?
Are we waiting for another potential disaster to happen? May Allah forbid!

I live in Sharbatly Village compound (El amir metaab street) shoul I evacuate before the coming storm?
Guess, you should comply with the Civil Defense instructions for your own good!
Wish you a safe times out there
Would the threat still exist even if there is no additional significant rainfall?
I assume the rain is a major factor of enhancing the risk. Meanwhile, many tanks are pouring the sewage water everyday!
Hello Mr. Ibrahim, Thanks so much for your reply. Would you please comment if the dangers from the Musk lake is over or still exist. Also how does the new rainfall in Jeddah last night effect the situation. Thanks.
Dear Farid,
Since there is no a transparent source of news can tell us what is the exact potential danger of that lake. I would seriously urge if you are financially capable to move somewhere safe and away from that lake
It could be serious, but you would never know! so be proactive and stay away
Good luck and may Allah keeps you safe!
Dear Ibrahim,
I will think over it. Presently I stay on Palestine St. between Sahafa St & Amir Majid St. Do you consider this as a risky location. If yes, which locations do you recommend?
Thanks in advace for your reply.
Farid
Farid,
I don’t live in Jeddah, but I can ask one of my friends over there
Also, I am not fully aware of the potential risks so I cannot tell
Good luck buddy!
