First of all, GITEX stands for Gulf Information Technology and Electronic Exhibition which is organized by Dubai World Trade Center. Supposedly, this exhibition would be the IT channel to Middle East to these big IT companies such as Microsoft, HP, 3com, Sony etc… in order to show their latest up to date products and IT solution. However, we are approaching Saudi Gitex the baby version (As I like to name it) of the one in Dubai which will be held in Riyadh between April 19-23, 2009. I went to the Riyadh Exhibitions Company who will be organizing this event and I was stroke by the poor media contents that are available on their website. I had hard time opening these PDF files that are placed there.
I continued surfing looking for the companies that will be attending this event and I was surprised that none of the international big companies are presenting this event. Yes, Saudi Arabian is the biggest economy in Middle East and it demands the majority of the IT infrastructure of the Middle East but the question goes here, Are these big companies still interested on the Saudi IT markets?
I only see these resellers, partners, and distributors presenting their services on the exhibit?
