Kaspersky’s Protection on the Edge!

Kaspersky Lab

A few months ago, specifically, on Sunday, 20 July 2008 a Kaspersky Lab website in Malaysia based on Russia was hacked by Turkish hackers, the attack was performed by injecting an SQL command (Structured Query Language) into the mentioned website’s server to upgrade the privilege in order to obtain higher rights into a targeted system. Ironically, the same hacker have hacked another website for the brand also in Malaysia  www.kaspersky.com.my which the offcial Kaspersky Anti-Virus SES online shop. The hacker claim that his attacked was driven by his patriotism (which I don’t understand what that has to do with Kaspersky in Malaysia). This attacked came after another attacked was targeting a french-based Kaspersky Technical Support website by Algerian hackers named c02.

Hack

These multiple attacks will be are very damaging to the company’s reputation since they are not able to protect their own home of security. Meanwhile, It is a big concern to all these users whom rely on such a high profiling company like Kaspersky to protect them from any harm or damages. However, it would not be a big concern if the event was occurred once but unfortunately it was couple of times that their domain were successfully hacked. Yet, by reading any online statistics concerning spam, SQL injection, phishing, etc. it is surprisingly that so many websites are under attacks but with hardened system, well-established infrastructure, and organized procedures such attacked will be eliminated.

Are you protected?

  1. I always prefer to use Kasperky over Avast or McAfee. Kaspersky is much better in detecting new viruses and it does not consume too much resources on your dektop PC..`’

  2. Toby,

can you refer to any articles cover the PC’s processors consumption?

anyways, article above is relatively old so I assume they have gotten better!

    Thanks
